Ice fishing can be very productive on both Junior and West Grand Lakes. Both offer excellent opportunities for Whitefish. West Grand Lake and Pug Lake have special regulations for Whitefish. Ice fishermen catch their creel limits (8 Whitefish) most days. Many Lake Trout are caught by jigging spoons. West Grand is credited with a few trophy Lake Trout each year weighing up to 20 pounds. Many Salmon are caught on West Grand though the ice as well.  Both lakes open for ice fishing on Feb 1st.

Junior Lake opens on Jan 1st and offers good to excellent ice fishing for Salmon, Whitefish, White Perch, and an occasional Lake Trout.

For those of you that can never get enough fishing in a day, Junior Lake and other lakes in the area offer night fishing for Cusk, a cousin to the Codfish. Cusk has a very firm white flesh that is excellent fried, baked, and makes one of the best chowders you will ever taste!
