Wild Fox Resort sits in the center of a large conservation easement. Once our guests get on to the lake system they can easily find areas for complete solitude…… no cabins, no boats, ……only nature at it’s best.
In June 2003, the New England Forestry Foundation and the Downeast lakes Land Trust launched a $29.5 million capital campaign to conserve 339,000 acres of forestland in eastern Washington County. Much of this land surrounds the extensive lake system we are currently on. In 2005, a total of 15,300 acres in the Farm Cove and McClellan Cove tracts were secured. Most of this land covers the entire western shore of West Grand Lake.
In addition an easement over 312,000 acres of the “Sunrise Tree Farm” will be purchased by NEFF and the land will still be owned by Typhoon, LLC and managed by Wagner Forest Mgt. This will put the entire western shore of Junior Lake and the land surrounding Scraggly Lake into a conservation easement.

We are excited for our guests since this type of conservation easement will protect overdevelopment on this entire lake system.
